Give yourself the edge: why good landscaping is key when you’re selling your home
Looking to sell your home? Then this summer, you’ll want to give yourself the ‘edge’ of good landscaping. It makes a huge difference between a hot sale and a cold call.
How? Good landscaping helps to attract buyers through the magic of curb appeal. First impressions really DO count. Most buyers form an idea of the value of a home as soon as they pull up in front of the home. Good grass or xeriscaping, well-maintained flower beds and shrubs, and healthy, mature trees all make a good impression and contribute to the overall value of your home.
Ready to make that first impression count? Here are the areas you’ll want to cultivate in the landscape of your home.
- Make sure your grass is green, clipped, and maintained. Or, if you don’t have grass, make sure the xeriscaping is neat and tidy. A healthy lawn makes the right first impression with buyers.
- Have your trees trimmed. Trees that look sickly or unkempt can be a hazard. You’ll want to make sure branches aren’t hanging over gutters, tangled in power lines, or look dead. Also, make sure your shrubs are tidy and don’t hang over sidewalks.
- Flower beds are both beautiful and attractive to buyers. Be sure to invest in a thoughtful arrangement.
- Make sure sidewalk areas are clear, and any hardscaping – such as water features, birdbaths, or lighting – look to be clean and in good repair.
